A LIX market reference can sit alongside the institution’s own data and models. Its relevance depends on the population, horizon and decision.

THE LIX DIFFERENCE

Keep the model. Add a live market view.

When medicine, demographics or a major health event changes expectations, LIX is designed to let market participants express those views in prices—and let institutions see that repricing as it happens.

How this business works

Pharmacy benefit managers help organize how prescription drugs are paid for and accessed across health plans and employer populations. They sit between drug manufacturers, insurers, employers, pharmacies and patients, so changes in treatment patterns can quickly become financial questions.

How decisions are made today

PBMs and their partners use prescription utilization, formularies, claims, rebates, clinical information and population forecasts to understand future drug spending. Those decisions affect benefit design, contracting, budgets and the economics of new therapies.

What changes when a live market exists

LIX can add a broader market signal around changing survival expectations. That signal will not price a drug by itself. But over time it can provide another lens for understanding how the market is interpreting large changes in medicine, population health and survival alongside the clinical and claims data PBMs already use.

Drug innovation can change both today's pharmacy bill and tomorrow's expectations

PBMs sit close to the economic impact of new medicines. A therapy such as a GLP-1 can affect utilization, formulary decisions and near-term drug spending while also raising longer-run questions about health outcomes. Cancer therapies, gene therapies and other innovations create similar trade-offs between cost today and possible health benefits over time.

LIX market data could provide an additional signal about how investors are pricing the longer-run survival implications as evidence and adoption evolve. That can sit beside pharmacy, clinical and claims data when PBMs and their clients evaluate the broader economic picture.

LIX is not asking this industry to replace the models, data or professional judgment it already trusts. The new idea is to add a market alongside them: a place where institutions and investors can trade expectations about human life expectancy and create an external price that can be observed, compared and—where useful—acted upon.
